Cosmetic contact lenses
Interest in colour and decorative contact lenses has been rekindled as the result of recent technological advances and new designs. In this edition of Contact Lens Update, Christine Sindt provides some thoughts on the safe use of cosmetic lenses and an update on modern cosmetic lens advantages, Doerte Luensmann reviews a meta-analysis of tinted soft contact lens complications (Rah et al. 2013), and Amir Moezzi reports the results of a study assessing whether the addition of pigments in Johnson and Johnson’s new “limbal ring” lenses has any impact on corneal swelling during normal wear. Contact lens discomfort - The essentials
What do we know about contact lens discomfort? The 2013 Report of the Workshop on Contact Lens Discomfort, spearheaded by the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society, was essential reading for eye care practitioners. If you haven't had time to read the full report, published in Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, this edition of Contact Lens Update will provide you with some highlights as well as links to the report itself.
